Photo Essay: A Trip to the Apple Orchard

This past weekend, The Big Lug and I went apple picking at Stuckey Farm in nearby Sheridan, Indiana. We picked four cultivars (or varieties) of apples. Below is a list of what we picked.

Cortland: An offspring of the Macintosh apple.
Golden Delicious: Apple with a yellow color not closely related to the Red Delicious apple.
Jonagold: A cross between Jonathan and Golden Delicious apples.
Jonamac: A cross between Jonathan and Macintosh apples.

At the end of this photo essay, you will see our bags of “loot” all earmarked for baked deliciousness coming soon to the blog. Also, as you will see, we totally fell for the marketing tactic of fresh chilled apple cider and hot-from-the-fryer doughnuts rolled in cinnamon sugar!

Enjoy!
